Season Record: 4-2

The Tars men's soccer team successfully began the defense of the SSC title with a 2-0 shutout over Saint Leo last Friday. WOMEN'S SOCCER SPLITS PAIR OF GAMES

Rollins 2, Embry-Riddle 1

Saint Leo 2, Rollins 1 (2OT)

Season Record: 5-2

The Rollins women's soccer team put together a strong performance against Embry-Riddle, winning 2-1 to open the week before losing a double overtime, heartbreaker to Saint Leo in the SSC opener, 2-1.

The host Tars went up 1-0 in the 15 th minute as Jacquelyn Parsons (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) scored her first of the season off of a Laura Guild (Jupiter, Fla.) pass. Rollins took a 2-0 advantage in the 26 th minute as Guild and Jen Finkel ( Marlton , N.J. ) quickly got the ball up field after an Eagles attack to Jeri Ostuw ( Daytona , Fla. ) who beat the keeper with a blast from the right side of the goal box. Rollins' defense took over from there until ERAU's score with just 25 seconds left.

Finkel was joined on the defensive line by Alison Tradd ( Longwood , Fla. ) and Lindsay Taylor (Jupiter, Fla. ). The unit was nothing short of dominate as the Tars held a 19-4 advantage in shots with keeper Francesca Nicoloso ( Tallahassee , Fla. ) tallying three saves.

It was a trip to Saint Leo , Florida for the start of the Tars SSC season on Sunday, but a scrappy Lions team sent the Tars home with a 2-1 double overtime defeat. Saint Leo cracked the scoreboard first with a goal just before the halftime horn. The Tars answered early in the second half as Ashley Hunsberger (New Britian, Pa. ) scored off of a Tradd free kick to knot the score at 1-1. The rest of regulation was played to a stalemate and the game headed to overtime. The first extra period was all Rollins as the Tars got off three shots, but each attempt missed the mark and a second OT was needed. Saint Leo took a shot at the goal 23 seconds into the second overtime, but a save by Nicoloso bounced around the box until a Lion's player sent it into the open net for the victory.

Rollins hosts Barry University on Saturday, September 24 in a huge Sunshine State Conference match-up in Winter Park . The contest is set to kick off at 4:30 to begin the white-out in Winter Park as all fans are encouraged to where white to the game in support of the Tars.
