                     History

The Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity was founded, based on the principles listed below, during the post-bellum era in American history. Today, there are approximately 144 chapters across the country, covering 42 states.

The Iota Zeta chapter was founded in 1989 by 11 founding fathers. Now our chapter has 42 current members. It is the one four fraternities on the Rollins campus, and has a number of members in leadership positions of other organizations as well as possessing approximately 12 varsity athletes covering soccer, tennis and baseball. Alpha Tau Omega either begun or completed an unprecedented number of social events and philanthropic projects this year as we continue to strive for excellence.

To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity; to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit where ever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world. These were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
