The class took the shuttle boat to our base at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology Laboratory. |
One of our activities was to learn about the exciting research being done at the HIMB laboratory. |

On some days we would leave the laboratory to collect specimens from Kaneohe Bay reefs. |
Finding the right reef took excellent navigation by group leader, Dr. David Richard. |

Students observed many marine organisms including this green sea turtle. |
Chad searches the bottom of the bay for invertebrates and algae. |

| Even in the field some students kept in contact with friends back at Rollins. | The water in Kaneohe Bay was a lot colder than our students expected. |
