Overview
The staff of Career Services is available
to assist current students and alumni with post-graduation plans and goals. Our staff
provides many services and resources to help you evaluate your career
options, plan for your future, and achieve success.
The job market is very competitive as is
graduate school admission. There are no guarantees that academic
accomplishment alone will be rewarded with an offer of employment or an
acceptance letter to graduate school. You must prepare and actively pursue
your dreams.
Career Counseling
You are encouraged to schedule an appointment to meet with a career
counselor to discuss your individual questions and to map out a plan for
your future. You may use this time to explore career interests, examine
appropriate graduate school programs, review your resume, prepare for
interviews, or discuss other career related issues. To schedule an
appointment, call 407- 646-2195 or stop by the Career Services Office in
the 170 W. Fairbanks building. Our office hours are 8:30 am - 12:00 noon
and 1:00 - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. For quick questions on
any career planning topic, please consider using our Walk-In service!
Stop by the office Monday through Friday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm when a
counselor will be on duty to help answer resume questions, discuss
internship opportunities, or provide advice for an upcoming interview.

programs, employment opportunities, and important dates for graduate
admissions testing and related events. We include all students on our
weekly email updates and will send timely announcements to assist you in
your career-related endeavors. Be sure to check your Rollins email on a regular

Career Inventories
The first step in the career search process is being able to articulate
specific career goals. Many students struggle with this step. Lack of
knowledge of oneself and available career options may lead to frustration
and general avoidance of the job search process altogether. Career
Services offers the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and the
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). These inventories can help
you assess your interests, skills, and personality type and how they match
possible career goals.
Choices Planner
A computerized career guidance system, Choices Planner helps you examine and
organize information about your values, interests, and skills. As you
enter personal data into the computer, Choices Planner searches its built-in
libraries and identifies careers that most closely match your preferences.
It also provides current information on specific careers that you would
like to explore, including required education and skills, as well as
salary and job outlook information. Choices Planner can be accessed
at www.bridges.com/cpflorida
Workshops & Programs
Throughout the year, Career Services offers numerous workshops and
programs. These programs provide practical tips and proven strategies to
give you the competitive edge in the job search process. The Videotaped
Mock Interview has received outstanding evaluations from past
participants and is highly recommended for students considering graduate
school as well as the job market. Other programs of particular interest
include: Resume Writing Workshops, Job Searching for Seniors, Internship
Information Workshops, and Career Expo seminars. Watch for more information about these and other
programs in Career Quest, the Future Focus email and the Career Services
Dates to Remember page.
INT 150:
Academic and Career Planning
Course
This course is designed to guide
students through the academic and career exploration and planning
processes and to provide the strategies and skills necessary for a
lifetime of career-related decision making. In collaboration with
Winter Park community members and Rollins alumni, students will engage
in a variety of self-discovery initiatives,
exploring personal interests, values, and skills. With this
information, students will utilize various research tools and reflection
techniques to define and clarify educational and career plans. In
addition, students will learn how to locate internship opportunities and
write a resume.
On-Campus Interview Program
Throughout the year, employers representing various businesses, agencies,
school systems, and graduate programs visit the Rollins campus to
interview seniors and alumni. The Career Services staff works to ensure a
rich diversity of on-campus interview options, however, some organizations
do not utilize on-campus interviewing as a method of attracting new
employees. You are encouraged to broaden your interviewing options by
employing additional job search techniques.
On-campus interviews take place between
September and April. You are advised to begin your interviews during the
fall months since many employers who recruit during the fall semester may
not recruit again in the spring.
To participate in the On-Campus Interview
Program you must register and create a user profile in the Jobs for Tars
system. Notice regarding on-campus
interviews will be released to seniors via the Career Quest
newsletter, the Career Services website and email distribution lists,
including Jobs for Tars and Future Focus. Students
and alumni who sign up for on-campus interviews are expected to be
prepared, dress professionally and arrive on time for their scheduled
interview time slot.
Rollins Internship Program
Career Services coordinates and administers the
Rollins Internship Program
in conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Internships in Academic
Affairs. This program provides sophomores, juniors and seniors opportunities to
enhance their educational understanding while gaining valuable skills and
experience. Information for fall, spring and summer internships is
available in the Career Services office and on the Career Services website. For more information on internships, schedule an appointment with a
career counselor.
Job Listing Service
Career Services receives job vacancies from many employers in Florida and throughout the
U.S. These opportunities are made available to you throughout the year and
are available in organized in binders (full-time, part-time, and summer) located in the
Career Resource Library. Additionally, many job opportunities are
posted in the college's online job posting service for Rollins' students
and alumni, called Jobs for Tars. Visit
http://tars.rollins.edu/careerservices/jobsfortars/index.html for
more information and to register for this system.
Career Quest
Published regularly throughout the year, Career Quest provides you with career
information, employer listings, and program updates. You are encouraged to
read each edition carefully and to follow all employment leads in a timely
fashion. Watch for Career Quest in your Rollins mailbox.
Career Resource Library

In addition to the job listings the Career Resource
Library includes up-to-date career books and computerized assessment
information. Regardless of where you are in the career search process -
exploring career options, preparing for graduate school or deciding on
employment offers - the Career Resource Library is rich in resources.
Books are shelved according to topic and include: career field
information, career planning directories, resume and cover letter
resources, job search guides, graduate school and financial aid books, job
opportunity information, internship listings and geographical job bank
directories. No appointment is needed to use the self-help Career Resource
Library that is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 12 noon and 1:00
- 5:00 pm.
Internet Resources
The Internet is an important tool when trying to conduct a comprehensive
search for a full-time or intern position. In recent years, the number of
job sites has expanded and for many students, the process of conducting
career-related searches on the web can be confusing and frustrating. We
recommend that you take time to review the many sites that are available
and identify those that are most consistent with your needs. You may find
these on our Career Related Web
Sites page.
