Fine Art, Fine Music Fall Prelude

The Orlando Philharmonic joins the Cornell Fine Arts Museum for a magical evening of music and art over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Live music is paired with CFAM’s current exhibitions, led by OPO’s Executive Director, David Schillhammer, and Matthew McLendon, Curator of Academic Initiatives for the Cornell. $50 per person.

Literary Reading - Rollins Alumna Laura van den Berg ‘05HH reads from her newly released collection of short stories, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us. Co-sponsored by the Department of English.

Sunday, November 1, 1-3:00 pm and 4-6:00 pm

Printmaking Demonstration with Michael Phillips.  Phillips demonstrates the painstaking process used by William Blake.  Participants will receive a handmade print.  $20 for CFAM members, $25 nonmembers 

Tuesdays in November, 7-9:00 pm

Series - Why Warhol?  A course taught over four Tuesday evenings examining the importance of Warhol's work and the major themes explored in his considerable output.  Taught by Curator of Academic Initiatives, Dr. Matthew McLendon, the sessions will provocatively approach the question, "is Andy Warhol one of the great artists of the 20th century?" CFAM members $75, $100 nonmembers

Gallery talk - Sven Birkerts – “Reading as Emblematic: Reflections on the Photographs of André Kertész.” The author of The Gutenberg Elegies reflects on the importance of and inherent beauty in the act of reading.

Gallery talk - Art critic and co-author of the recently published Andy Warhol Portraits (Phaidon) Carter Ratcliff discusses the portraiture of Andy Warhol.
