celebrate the successful career of Dr. James M. Higgins as he presents
his last lecture to the Crummer alumni, faculty, and community.
For nearly 30 years at the Crummer School Dr. Higgins was a popular
professor of management. He won the Welch Award in 1987 and 2002
for his overall performance and service to the Crummer School, served
as president of the Faculty of the Crummer Graduate School of Business,
and in 2004 he was awarded the George D. and Harriet W. Cornell
Chair of Innovation Management for his teaching, publications and
service.
Throughout his career, he has authored six textbooks on management,
business strategy, and organizational behavior, including the best-selling
The Management Challenge. He is also the author of five
trade books on creativity and innovation including 101 Creative
Problem Solving Techniques, Innovate or Evaporate,
and Escape from the Maze. Higgins' research has been published
in a number of professional journals such as Organizational
Dynamics, Strategy & Leadership, Business
Horizons, and the Journal of Change Management. Since
1973, he has served as a management consultant to major businesses
where he worked primarily in strategic planning, corporate innovation
and leadership training.
Dr. Higgins will be missed at the Crummer School and we welcome
