Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College Achieves Reaffirmation of AccreditationThe Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College has achieved reaffirmation of accreditation of its master's degree in business administration (MBA) programs by recent action of the Board of Directors of the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International. The official announcement was made in April 2002. According to Crummer Dean Craig McAllaster, "AACSB is the gold standard for business accreditation in the world, and the fact that this is the third time that the Crummer School has completed a reaccredidation study with flying colors speaks to the ongoing commitment to quality of the faculty and staff. Only about 25 percent of the business schools in the U.S. are able to attain the quality level required to achieve AACSB accreditation. Crummer is a proud member of that elite group of academic institutions." Crummer is also distinctive in that it is one of only 29 AACSB-accredited schools that focus only on graduate business education. "This assures our students that the faculty is devoted exclusively to MBA education without the distractions of working with undergraduate or doctoral programs - it is our specialty," McAllaster said. To achieve AACSB International accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards, all of which are mission linked, relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirements, library and computer facilities, financial resources, and intellectual climate. During the accreditation process, the Crummer School was visited and evaluated by business school deans who are leaders in the field of management education, applying AACSB International accreditation standards that are widely accepted and adopted by the educational and business communities. As of April 2002, there are 424 accredited members - 404 in North America (394 in the U.S., eight in Canada, and two in Mexico), 13 in Europe, three in Asia, one in Central America, one in the Middle East, and two in South America. AACSB International is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 800 educational organizations and corporations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management. Its mission is to provide global leadership in advancing management education through accreditation and by fostering international interchanges, key business linkages, sharing of best practice, and professional development. AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency and service organization for business schools and has its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. |
