Crummer Graduate School Announces Fall Leadership Lectures

The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College will host two speakers during the Fall Leadership Lecture Series. A 10-year tradition, the Series invites prominent alumni to campus to speak about their career successes and personal leadership strategies. Lecturers also discuss current industry topics and trends. These events are free and open to the public; parking is available in the SunTrust parking garage adjacent to the Rollins campus. The lectures will be held in the Galloway Room in Mills Memorial Center on the Rollins campus, 1000 Holt Avenue, Winter Park.

Thomas McEvoy, president of Sprint SBS Enterprise Markets, will speak on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 7:30 a.m. McEvoy leads the sales of integrated communications solutions for 5,000 corporate, federal and state government accounts. He manages a staff of 1,500 and is responsible for sales totaling more than $50 billion annually. Prior to assuming his current position, McEvoy was president of Sprint’s Local Telecommunications Division Consumer Solutions, managing 24,000 employees who served seven million local exchange telephone customers in 18 states nationwide.

McEvoy serves on the Crummer School’s Board of Overseers and is a recipient of the Excellence in Missouri Foundation’s Missouri Quality Award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rollins College and an MBA degree from the Crummer School.

R. Randolph Lyon, regional president of The Ginn Company, will speak on Thursday, November 11, 2004, at 7:30 a.m. Lyon serves as president for the Central Florida region of The Ginn Company. He is responsible for overseeing the development and management of Ginn properties located in Central Florida, including Reunion Resort & Club of OrlandoSM and Bella Collina – the two top selling residential properties in Florida’s history as reported in Globe Street.

Prior to joining The Ginn Company, Lyon served as president and CEO of Lake Nona Property Holdings, L.L.C., which owns and operates Lake Nona, a 6,900-acre master planned development in Orlando. During his tenure, Lake Nona received international recognition for their help in building the North Lake Park Community School. His extensive experience includes a variety of planned community real estate developments throughout Florida, Southern California, Hawaii and Australia. His Island of Lanai development and the Lodge at Koele were ranked best among U.S. resorts for two consecutive years by Conde Nast and have been in the top 10 for over a decade.

Chosen by his professional colleagues to chair the board of the Urban Land Institute-Central Florida, Lyon also serves as the board chair for myregion.org. His professional and voluntary associations include board positions with the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, WMFE Board of Trustees, Orlando Regional Healthcare Foundation, and the Central Florida YMCA. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Rollins College, an MBA degree from the Crummer School and has completed post graduate work at Georgia State University.
