Rollins MBA Adapts to Needs of Central Florida Business Community
In response to the changing needs of the business community, the
Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College has announced
it will expand its program offerings to include a Saturday MBA program.
With intense productivity pressures in the U.S. workplace, employees
are expected to do more in less time. According to the Economic
Policy Institute in Washington, DC, the average American worker
has added 199 hours to his/her annual work schedule since 1973.
That's the equivalent of five additional 40-hour workweeks per year,
leaving only weekends for professional development. The Saturday-only
MBA program at Rollins fills this need and enrolled its first class
in January 2005 at the Crummer School.
“Working professionals are finding it harder to continue their
education during the traditional work week,” said Craig McAllaster,
dean of the Crummer School. “This program is the ideal way
to earn an MBA while maintaining a demanding career.” The
intensive, 19-month Saturday MBA program is tailored for working
professionals with at least 5 years of work experience at the managerial
or professional level. The program is expected to be especially
appealing to physicians, attorneys and other professionals who operate
independent practices. “The program offers a dynamic classroom
filled with a blend of corporate executives, as well as doctors
and lawyers whose diverse experiences enhances the learning environment,”
said Jennifer Devitt, director of the Saturday and Executive MBA
programs.
Tuition includes a notebook computer and lunch on class days. Students
will also have the opportunity to participate in an optional international
study trip. Candidates for the Saturday MBA program are required
to have earned a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree from an
accredited college or university or a four-year international equivalent
and have taken the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The
GMAT requirement is waived for prospective students who have already
earned an acceptable graduate or doctoral degree.
The Crummer School offers three other options for earning an MBA:
• The Executive MBA is designed for the senior executive
with more than 15 years of managerial work experience. The 21-month
program meets on alternating Fridays and Saturdays and includes
an international study trip.
• U.S. News and World Report ranked the Crummer School’s
Professional MBA program in the top 25 part-time programs, and it
boasts one of the highest completion rates nationwide graduating
more than 85% of participants. Classes are held in the evenings
twice weekly in the 32-month program.
• The Early Advantage MBA program is the only full-time MBA
program in the nation to accept high-potential students with no
work experience. Students earn practical work experience during
the two-year program through internships, consulting projects, mentor
program and an international study trip.
