U.S. News & World Report ranks Rollins College 1st in FloridaFor the seventh consecutive year, Rollins College has been ranked second among regional universities in the South and first in Florida in the annual rankings of “America’s Best Colleges,” released last night (9/6). In the category of “Best Universities – Master’s” (schools that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s level programs), Rollins tied for second place with James Madison, a state-supported university in Virginia, while the University of Richmond retained its first place ranking. Rollins has been included among the top regional universities since the influential ranking of the nation’s top schools began in 1987. “We are pleased with this ongoing recognition,” said President Rita Bornstein. “It reflects our commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Rollins is stronger today than it has ever been in its 116-year history.” Rollins was also ranked first in Florida in its category for offering the best value, which relates academic quality with the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of financial aid. The “best college” rankings are based on surveys of college officials, combined with data provided by institutions, including student selectivity, faculty resources, financial resources, graduation rates and alumni satisfaction. The magazine’s annual “America’s Best Colleges” issue will be on newsstands Monday, September 10. The guidebook, which includes complete listings of the rankings and articles on college admission and financing, goes on sale the same day.
