An economics major provides the opportunity to acquire ideas and thinking
skills that will enrich one’s life. Moreover, an economics major offers a
solid foundation for careers in business and government and excellent
preparation for graduate professional schools such as MBA programs, law
schools and International Relations programs. In combination with a minor
in mathematics, the economics major also provides fine preparation for
strong PH.D. programs in economics.
The Rollins economics program is distinctive for its breadth of course
offerings, small class sizes (most of them 15-20 students), and an emphasis
on student learning. In addition to a strong standard economics core and
numerous electives, other strengths of the Rollins economics program and
faculty include the importance placed on active learning, the encouragement
of critical and independent thinking, and a commitment to understanding
alternative economic and cross-disciplinary perspectives.
