Emergency Preparedness

Hurricane season starts June 1 and lasts until November 30, and Rollins College monitors all active storms.  Before and after any storm, we will issue notifications of campus status and other pertinent information as needed through a variety of communication mechanisms, including the Rollins Web site, the Rollins Information Hotline, broadcast e-mail and voice mail messages, television screen messages, door to door contact and fliers posted in key locations.

Unless electrical power or electronic communication is unavailable following a storm, the Rollins Web site at www.rollins.edu will be the official source for information.  Status updates will be posted on the Web and recorded on the Rollins Information Hotline.  Students, faculty, staff and parents may receive recorded updates by calling the Rollins Information Hotline, which is the main campus number at 407-646-2000.  Faculty, staff and students are also encouraged to stay tuned to local media outlets.

Tropical Update

The safety of the students, faculty, and staff at Rollins College is of the highest priority. Rollins monitors weather conditions and has an extensive emergency plan to address weather emergencies and other crises that may affect the campus. In the event of a weather emergency, the Emergency Operations Plan Team stands ready to meet and work in cooperation with the City of Winter Park, Orange County and other government agencies to coordinate emergency procedures.

In the event of an emergency, the Rollins College Emergency Preparedness Plan will be activated to ensure the safety of the campus. At the direction of the Emergency Operations Team, information will be disseminated to members of the Rollins community, including employees and students, as well as to the Central Florida community.
