Default Username/Password for Banner Accounts

After submitting an online request for a Banner account to be created, the user will be contacted via email which includes a statement of Administrative Responsibility and Confidentiality.  Upon receipt of agreement to the statement, the individual will be contacted by phone or email with his/her Banner username and password.  If new user does not have a campus e-mail address, the notification will be sent to the department's liaison.

An explanation of the default username and password for this account is below:

Username (identifier):

Most faculty and staff will have a Banner username of the first initial of his/her first name immediately followed by his/her last name.  If that username is already in use, the middle initial will be used.

John David Smith = jsmith

Jane Mary Smith = jmsmith

In certain rare cases where an individual is also requesting a Hobbes account and the first initial of their first name and entire last name is longer than eight characters, the Banner account username (and the Hobbes login ID) will be set to the first initial of his/her first name and the first seven characters of his/her last name.

John David Smithsonian = jsmithso

Password:

Banner passwords are randomly set by the Banner account administrator.
