R-Journals
Hey Rollins Students!
Do you enjoy writing or blogging? Are you an apprehensive
incoming freshman? Are you a returning student who loves Rollins
College? Rollins is seeking qualified
candidates for the sixth year of the award-winning R-Journals!
Apply by
July 24, 2009!
The R-Journals blog is designed to show prospective students and visitors what life at Rollins is really like. R-Journalists will serve as ambassadors of the College—a “face to the world”—and will be encouraged to write about the various aspects of life at Rollins, including, but not limited to, classes and academic life, interaction with faculty and staff, relationships with other students and participation in campus events and activities.
In exchange for your time and talents, R-Journalists will
receive a stipend of $400 (in two equal payments) and a digital
camera to keep upon completion of the program.
There are some general guidelines:
- R-Journals should not be confused with blogs or
private journal entries. These entries will be publicly
presented and will therefore reflect on the College, the student
and the student’s family.
- Students are asked to post entries which are honest and
real, but which their parents, their grandparents or close
family friends can read.
- R-Journalists will be required to post a minimum of
12 entries beginning in August 2009 through May 2010, with a minimum of 500 words per entry. We
won’t censor your journal entries, but will provide guidance on
content, topic, grammar and spelling to help you improve your
writing skills.
- R-Journalists will be trained to use blogging software and will have the ability to upload R-Journal entries, photos and video from any location.
- R-Journalists must include three to four relevant photos
with each entry. For example, if you write about an athletic
event you attended, take photos of you, your friends and the
game to submit.
- R-Journalists will also be required to record and upload short video segments from the digital cameras that are provided to them.
