Julie Carrington has been with Rollins since shortly after completing
her Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Central Florida in December
of 1992. She first came to Central Florida in 1984 after living in Mexico
for three years where she taught English as a second language.
Her experience
living and working in Mexico gave her a new appreciation for previously
ignored educational opportunities in the United States; so, upon
arrival, at the age of 30, she enrolled as an undergraduate in the
computer science
program at the University of Central Florida.
Her current area of
research in graph theory has led to numerous publications in a variety
of respected
mathematical journals and a continuing collaboration with Dr.
Bob Brigham of UCF. and Dr. Rick Vitray of Rollins College. Her principle
hobby is
driving her children to soccer practice and music lessons. She
lives in Oviedo with her husband, Lorenzo Ramirez and her two children,
Nayeli and
Alex.
