Status

donors and the ability to apply for government and foundation grants,

the IRS Form 1023 based on legal knowledge and past applications prepared
and reviewed.

Christin Decker Petroski has experience
representing numerous businesses in a broad range of transactions,
with an emphasis in corporate acquisitions, dispositions, mergers
and reorganizations. She has also assisted clients in general corporation,
partnership and limited liability company matters, including negotiating
and drafting various agreements. In addition, Ms. Petroski represents
not-for-profit entities with respect to various tax and corporate
matters. Her experience includes forming not-for-profit entities and
assisting those entities with respect to obtaining tax exempt status
from the Internal Revenue Service. Ms. Petroski also devotes a portion
of her time to assisting economic development agencies. Ms. Petroski
received her B.S., magna cum laude, in Psychology from Florida State
University. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from University
of Florida College of Law. She is admitted to the Florida Bar and
is a member of its Business Law Section. |

Legal & Ethical Issues for Nonprofit
Boards
Nonprofit board members must ensure that the legal and ethical integrity
of there organization is maintained. They must guarantee accountability
and are responsible for the oversight of the government filings, stewardship
of donations and the veracity of the programs provided to clients. In
this workshop board members will review their legal duties and explore
real life ethical dilemmas faced by nonprofit boards. This hands-on workshop
will challenge you to make ethical decisions regarding how nonprofits
operate.
Who should attend:
Members of nonprofit boards of directors, executive directors, and CEOs
of nonprofit organizations.
Workshop materials:
Participants will receive a booklet of workshop materials that includes
pertinent information and resources.
You will learn:
- Participants will become familiar with the required government filings
that nonprofits must comply with.
- Participants will understand the need for and compliance of Conflict
of Interest policies.
- Participants will evaluate ethical dilemmas faced by nonprofit boards
of directors and develop solutions for those scenarios.
