Certificate in Leadership Practice“The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards
they set for themselves.” Do people consider you a leader? Do you feel you have an innate sense of what it takes to lead? Are you in a leadership position in your organization, or do you want to be? Are you looking to expand or refine your leadership skill set in this challenging economic climate? Now is the time to raise your standards, and the standards of those around you… The Certificate in Leadership Practice is designed for nonprofit professionals, including emerging leaders, who are ready to take their leadership skill set to the next level. Offered only once each fall, this series includes four, full-day sessions that are facilitated by certified leadership training professionals. With capped enrollment, this experience is personalized to meet your specific needs. Program participants will engage in interactive sessions that will help them understand their own leadership style and challenge them to leverage personal strengths. Attendees will complete self-assessments and feedback instruments that include: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Assessment (MBTI®) A leader should understand his or her own needs and characteristics and understand these dynamics as they relate to personal and professional contexts. The Certificate in Leadership Practice will help participants develop a roadmap of improvements to maximize potential and help them overcome hindrances to success. The fee is $975 for members and nonmembers, inclusive of all training materials, assessments, books, and personal development coaching. Scholarships are available to staff of 501c3 organizations that are members of the Philanthropy Center. Active participation is expected. The Certificate in Leadership Practice involves the completion of outside reading and assignments. A Certificate will only be awarded to those who complete the assignments and attend all four sessions in their entirety. Leadership dates for fall of 2009

Dr. Mark S. Freeman, LMHC; LMFT; NCC; ACS - TLC: Tools for Life Change - is a licensed mental health counselor, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and a nationally certified counselor with a doctorate in counselor education and supervision. Mark is past president of the American College Counseling Association. His counseling philosophy is inclusive of many theoretical positions. Mark presents workshops on a wide variety of topics, such as personal and professional success, personal responsibility, dream interpretation, and developing personal and professional mission statements. He has written several articles on personality type and development
and he teaches several courses for the evening degree program
in psychology and the master's program in counseling at Rollins
College. Mark has been a consultant/facilitator for several organizational
retreats in the local area. Mark is a trained mediator and handles
dispute resolution activities for various organizations locally
and across the country. He has been a practicing therapist, coach,
and organizational consultant over the last 25 years. |

Joanne Vogel, Ph.D., LMHC is the Director of
Rollins College Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). She
has worked as an adjunct faculty member in the Counseling Psychology
program at Rollins since 2006. Prior to this, Dr. Vogel worked as
an administrative faculty member at the University of Central Florida
where she served as Project Director of a federal grant designed
to strengthen relationships.
In her private counseling and consulting practice, she has worked with individuals, couples, groups, and families to improve the quality of their lives and organizations through assessment, insight, and accountability. Dr. Vogel serves as a leadership consultant through the Crummer
Graduate School of Business and the Rollins Leadership Academy.
She has published numerous articles in various professional journals
and has co-authored a book on coping with fears, stress, and trauma. |
