Friday, November 7, 2003
5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the Woolson House

Rollins College

Author Patrick D. Smith will visit Rollins College as part of the Central Florida Reads Program. Smith wrote the best seller A Land Remembered. The book was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and received the Florida Historical Society’s 1986 Tebeau Award for the Most Outstanding Florida Historical Novel, the state’s highest literary award.

The Central Florida Reads Program annually engages the community in a celebration of reading through conversations and events related to a book. This year’s selection is A Land Remembered. Smith is a three-time nominee for the Pulitzer Prize and a six-time nominee for the Nobel Prize for Literature. The noted author of several novels, he has also penned numerous short stories, essays, and articles.

Smith will attend a reception in his honor Friday, November 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Woolson House (located next to Orlando Hall). His visit is sponsored by the Thomas P. Johnson Distinguished Visiting Artist Fund, the Central Florida Reads Program, and the Department of English.

The talk is free and open to the public.
