International Campus
MovieFest Comes to Rollins
January 30, 2006
Campus MovieFest is poised to hit campus, and the Office
of Student Involvement and Leadership is looking to
recruit 50 to 70 teams to take part in a movie-making
competition. Each team will be comprised of five to 10
faculty, staff and students.
Campus MovieFest, created by students at Emory
University in 2000, has grown into the world’s largest
student movie-making event. This year, Rollins is one of
only two participating colleges or universities in the
state of Florida and among 15 from around the world.
During the week of February 13 to 17, representatives
from Campus Movie Fest will supply digital video
cameras, laptop computers and a technical support staff
to would-be filmmakers. At the conclusion of the week,
each team's five-minute short film will be judged by a
panel, and four films will receive awards in the
following categories: Best Comedy, Best Drama, Best
Documentary and Best Picture.
Winners will be awarded prizes and have the opportunity
to move on to a national competition. Additionally, all
the Rollins winners will be showcased during Campus
MovieNite, a Hollywood style premiere night on February
22.
