Where were you born or what do you consider your
hometown?
Valladolid, Spain
What is the best part about teaching at Rollins?
For me, the best part about teaching at Rollins is
working with the talented and enthusiastic students who
are brave and interested enough to study a foreign
language, such as Spanish.
How would you describe the academic atmosphere on
campus?
I would describe it as open-minded and nourishing.
What is your personal educational philosophy?
I want to provide my students with a fun and relaxed
environment, and with a rigorous course of study that
leads to lifetime learning.
What are your current research interests?
Currently, my research interest is in Spanish
Medieval Literature.
Please list a few of your favorite books.
Four favorites are Don Quijote de la Mancha by
Cervantes (we are celebrating the 400th
anniversary of its publication), El Cid (anonymous), El hereje by Miguel Delibes and
Cien años de soledad by Gabriel Gracía Márquez (100
Years of Solitude).
What is one of your favorite quotations?

What would be your dream vacation?
A month long cruise around the Greek islands.
What are your hobbies and/or special interests?
I love Latin music, dancing, reading and watching
independent movies.
How do you spend your free time or weekends? Do
you take advantage of the local opportunities –
concerts, museums, theme parks, beach?
I enjoy spending my free time with my family; we seem
to visit "Mickey Mouse" very often!
What is something most people might be surprised to
learn about you?
I have won several high jump championships in Spain.
