Sutton Place South Apartments

The vision for this complex is to provide a quiet and close atmosphere with studious, caring upperclass students who desire a more private living community. Rollins students are expected to model appropriate behavior and adherence to all College policies and Sutton Place South community standards.

Upperclass and new transfer students who are seeking a studious environment are encouraged to apply. The goal is to create a mutually appreciated, supportive, friendly and caring community. Throughout the year, there will be opportunities for all Sutton Place South residents to participate in building programs and holiday celebrations.

Eligibility:
Due to limited availability, typically upperclass with a set minimum grade point average and new transfer students will be considered. Additionally, judicial records will be reviewed so that an appropriate community may be established. Apartment assignment priority will be based on housing lottery numbers. Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Residential Life Office.

How Do I Apply?
Like traditional on-campus housing, Sutton student resident agreements are for the full academic year . A separate housing information newsletter will be distributed during the Spring Semester with details, however, only full apartment applications (2 students for a 1 bedroom, 4 students for a 2 bedroom) will be considered.

Apartment Layout:
There are three basic types of apartments in the Sutton Place South Apartments. There is the standard one-bedroom, two-students apartment, as well as, two-bedroom, three to four student apartments.  Almost all Sutton residents share a bedroom.

  • Includes utilities, local phone service, cable TV and Internet Access

  • Short walk to classes, Alfond Athletic Complex and the parking garage

  • Resident-only pool

What About Parking?
A Sutton resident must first register a vehicle with Campus Security as per College policy. A special Sutton decal will then be issued by the Residential Life Office. This will allow a Sutton resident an opportunity to park in one of the reserved spaces surrounding the building. This is on a first-come, first-serve basis. All other student residents must either use the College lot across the street or the parking garage according to their class standing and Rollins College parking policies.

What are the Other Building Amenities?
Besides a resident-only pool, there is a small picnic area, boat dock and eight boat slips (boat slips must be contracted for separately). There is a common room for Sutton Place South gatherings/meetings, centrally located laundry facility, and centrally located floor trash chutes.

What About a Meal Plan?
Although considered as on-campus housing, students living in Sutton Place South are not required to participate in the College's meal plan. Students may, however, elect to contribute to their “ flex account” for purchasing items on campus through their R-Card. Obviously, one of the benefits of Sutton Place South Apartments is a full kitchen and the ability to cook/prepare meals.

What about Sutton Place South Building Security and Safety?
This is of utmost importance to Rollins College. Sutton Place South exterior doors are locked 24 hours a day. Please understand that you should not allow anyone except your guest into the facility. You must escort your guest at all times and at all Sutton Place South common facility locations. Additionally, you are responsible for your guest's actions/behaviors. Resident Assistants and one professional staff member reside in the building and coordinate functions for the Sutton Place South Community.
