Traditional Buildings
Elizabeth Hall
Elizabeth Hall sits on the edge of Lake Virginia and houses a generous mixture of students from second year students to senior level students approaching graduation. The first floor is reserved as an all-female floor, has its own laundry facilities and a small sitting area in the center area of the Building. The second and third floors each have a designated laundry room and are coeducational with separate male and female bathrooms. The second floor is the main entrance and in August of 2009, will open with a newly redesigned front porch, entry, kitchen and lobby areas. The lobby includes floor to ceiling windows, a pool table and a plasma television.
Holt Hall
Holt Hall is a predominately upperclassmen building of 80 residents. Holt is a co-ed building of almost all single rooms. The basement was renovated in the summer of 2008, creating a comfortable study and game area, with a new pool table and ping pong table. Holt Hall is known as being one of the quietest buildings on campus, making it an ideal study area.
McKean Hall
McKean Hall sits on the edge of Lake Virginia and offers views of both the lake and the sand volleyball court located behind the building. One of the largest halls on campus with 5 floors, it features coeducational living with gender separated be wing. The end of each wing houses a pod-like living room that gives the students an opportunity to socialize outside of their rooms. The four pods closest to the lake and the second floor main lobby also include plasma televisions for student use and many pods include white boards to promote study sessions. There are two shower/restrooms available on each long wing and one shower/restroom located on the short wings. The fifth floor is currently used as an all-female living option. Each floor has its own trash area and all laundry facilities are on the first floor. McKean houses almost all of the RCC first year students and is known for late night volleyball games and hall cookouts.
Rex Beach Hall
Rex Beach is an Arts Living Learning Community home to 50 students from a wide variety of interests, ranging from theatre and dance to film and painting. It is set up as a traditional building, with two floors of women and a floor of men. Rex Beach is an instant community because of its small size, with recreational hotspots and hangouts like the common room with a half kitchen, patio area, and ping pong room. There is also a classroom flanking the building, which is available for use by students during the day and night.
Ward Hall
Ward Hall was renovated during the summer of 2007 and is home of one of the Living Learning Communities. Ward is the first hall to feature a faculty-in-residence at Rollins. Ward also has the unique feature of having a classroom in the building; this means that for most students at least one of their classes takes place just a few feet from their room. Ward Hall’s traditional style- layout of mostly double rooms and common bathrooms provides an instant community of life long friends. Ward Hall has great community rooms including several study spaces, a common kitchen, and a balcony that looks out over beautiful Lake Virginia.
Sutton Place Apartments
Sutton Place South Apartments is an upperclass, apartment-style building. The vision for this complex is to provide a quiet and close atmosphere with studious, caring upper-class students who desire a more private living community. There are three basic types of apartments in the Sutton Place South Apartments: one bedroom/one bathroom for two students; two bedroom/two bathroom for three students; and two bedroom/two bathroom for four students. The students lounge was updated in the summer of 2008 to include all new furniture, big screen plasma TV, and a pool table. It is the perfect place to hang out or study with friends.
