Room Change Process
The process should begin with a meeting between the roommates and the RA to review the roommate agreement and all related issues.
Once it has been determined that a student is eligible to move rooms they must follow the steps outlined below:
1. The student who will be moving should come to the Office of Residential Life to pick up a Room Change Request Form. If they do not already have a room in mind to move into, they may access the current vacancies list online or in the Residential Life Office.
2. The student is responsible for completing the entire form BEFORE having their current RA sign it and submitting it to their current Hall Director for approval. The student's current and new roommate(s) must sign the form before the RA.
3. Approval of a room change may take up to 48 hours or two business days. The student requesting the room change will be notified once the request has been approved. Students are NOT guaranteed approval just because they have completed and submitted the request.
4. All room changes will take place on the Friday following the submission and approval of all paperwork. Once the student has been notified of approval, they may pick up their NEW room key in the Residential Life office on Friday and on the following Monday have 48 hours to move, check out of their room with their RA, and return their OLD room key. If the old room key is not returned, a lock core change will be requested and the student will be billed $50.00 for a lock core change.
5. Any room change made without the approval of a Hall Director or Dawn Sayer, Coordinator for Housing, is considered an illegal room change. A fine of $75.00 will be assessed to all students involved, a judicial referral will be submitted and students will be required to move back to their original assignment.
