"For me, theatre is about collective problem
solving and the scrupulous pursuit of truth. When certain problems
are solved and the truth of something comes into focus it can
be very powerful and exciting. I feel like Rollins provided
me with honest theatrical training that was both pragmatic
and imaginative. As a recent graduate working in the regional
theatre as an actor I feel confident in my ability to communicate
and work on a professional level. When it comes down to it, however,
it was always about the people. The department is a caring
and inspirational place where I experienced the best days of my
life with some really incredible people."

"I
feel Rollins gave me an excellent liberal arts education, which
is ideal for acting. Actors need to be Renaissance men. They need
to know as much as they possibly can about everything. I also got
very good training in the theatre department. I liked the teachers
and I had a close relationship with them. They liked to teach and
that was the important thing to me."

"The
most invaluable experience I had during my years at Rollins was
the theatre management program. When working in the real world of
theatre, it gave me a solid base in which to start an incredibly
successful theatre program. Lisa Cody-Rapport also was an incredible
inspiration for design. She helped unlock hidden talents that have
blossomed into a successful career."

"During an audition
he [Dr. Bob Juergens, former Department Chair] asked me if I could
dance, and I replied no. He then called me onto the stage and
proceeded to waltz across it with me. At the end of our dance
he turned to me and told me to never say I didn’t know how
to do something. Good advice, don’t ya think?"

"My
favorite Rollins memory was meeting Thornton Wilder on campus. He
had heard of our outstanding production of Our Town, in
which I played Emily Webb. I enjoyed being a theatre major and love
the work it prepared me for—over 40 years in the business
and still going!"
